Simple Tips On Selling Your Motorcycle

Simple Tips On Selling Your Motorcycle

By Max Manroe

Sometimes, you have to let go of the things that you love the most. You probably want to sell your motorcycles for one reason or another, say, you need extra money, or you’re buying a new one or simply because there is lack of space in your garage.

So, where do you start? How do you find good buyers and how do you communicate with them? Here are some useful tips:

1. Bring the bike’s glory first

The first thing that you need to make sure of is that your motorcycle needs to be in top shape when you sell it. Getting the dirt off and changing a few peripherals can really shoot up the value of your motorcycle. Also, make sure that you ask a mechanic to check if there is anything to repair or replace. A bad motorcycle component can ruin a deal and ruin your reputation as a seller.

2. Browse the names from your current network

If you already know someone who has interest in purchasing a second-hand motorcycle, then you should offer your motorcycle to them first. Choosing people from your own network can remove many of the hassles and obstacles that come along with the selling process. If you are inclined towards selling the motorcycle at a “friendlier” price to someone you know, make sure to weigh the amount that you would have spent in waiting for another buyer from outside. You shouldn’t be on the losing end of the bargain.

3. Try selling it online

An online auction is a very effective way of doing transactions. You can opt to sell your motorcycle online with such websites as ebay.com, amazon.com, or alibaba.com. These auction sites connect to the whole world and everyone can practically participate in the bidding process. Make sure that you write the profile of our motorcycle in such a way that you highlight its strengths. Do include high resolution pictures that are taken from different angles. These will encourage people to inquire about it.

4. Local newspaper

There’s no harm in posting an advertisement in your local newspaper. There might be people out there in your own town who are dying to buy your motorcycle.

5. Try your local dealer

You may opt to ask for the help of your local dealer. You will have to pay him some amount but at least you will be freed from the problems of selling it. Selling motorcycle is their core expertise and it would be much faster to do it their way. Try different options and get the best deal from selling your motorcycle.

Facts About Motorcycles

Motorcycles are two-wheeled vehicles that are powered by an engine and are used for everyday travel as well as off-road activities. In some parts of the world motorcycles are the least expensive automobile to purchase and are the most widespread form of transport. Motorcycles are extremely popular throughout Europe. Motorcycles are also used in racing, long distance travel, cruising and weaving in and out of congested areas. Motorcycles are small enough to drive them in between two lanes of cars without clipping any of them and small enough to drive them down narrow alleyways.

The very first motorcycle was invented in 1885 by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, two German inventors. The first motorcycle built in the United States came in 1867 by Howard Roper of Roxbury, Massachusetts. The first motorcycle available for purchase was the Hildebrand and Wolfmuller in 1894. Prior to 1920, the largest manufacturer of motorcycles was an Indian company, producing over 20,000 bikes per year. But in 1920 Harley-Davidson took over the top spot and began selling motorcycles in 67 countries worldwide. The leaders in manufacturing motorcycles today are the Japanese companies of Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha. As mentioned earlier, motorcycles are popular throughout Europe and are most known as scooters. The world’s largest manufacturer of scooters is an Italian company called The Piaggio Group.

Motorcycles, like an ATV, have safety concerns. Motorcycles have a higher rate of fatal accidents than regular automobiles do. Motorcycles are prone to tipping and rolling over, which leads to serious injury and sometimes even death. The main cause of motorcycle accidents, aside from the roll over aspect, is that other automobiles tend to ignore motorcycles and their rights as members of the driving force. To reduce the number of motorcycle accidents in the United States, there are motorcycle safety classes offered by non-profit organizations and state agencies. These courses are designed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. These courses include a basic rider course, an intermediate rider course and an advanced rider course.

There are four types of off-road motorcycles in production today. They are the motocross, supermotos, trials motorcycles and track racing machines. These bikes are used for off-road competitions and even indoor racing on smaller tracks. Other motocross bicycles are known as ‘dirt bikes.’ ‘Dirt bikes’ are used to ride through the woods in muddy conditions so the tires have more traction.

Most states within the United States require motorcycle drivers to pass not only written tests but also driving tests as well. Most states do accept a rider passing one of the courses offered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation in lieu of a written test and another test driving the vehicle. Aside from the scooter, other types of motorcycles are the moped, the vespa, motorized tricycles and sidecar motorcycles. Motorcycles are known for good fuel efficiency but have been criticized for the amount of pollution they send into the air. For every mile driven a motorcycle produces 10 to 20 times more pollution than a new car.

Why Car Insurance For Teens is More Expensive

If you have a teen who is getting ready to drive, you will find that car insurance is not as affordable for your kid than it is for yourself, unless you have a particularly bad driving record. Why is this? Car insurance in Canada for teens is more expensive because teens are more risky drivers to insure.

Higher Rates of Accidents

Both the United States and Canada allow teens to drive, but statistics show that this may not be the safest option. In 2007 in the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 13 percent of all drivers that were in fatal car accidents were between the ages of 15 and 20. While this percentage is dropping, as it was up 9.1 percent in 2006, it is still a danger. The statistic increases to 15 percent of all police-reported crashes that were not necessarily fatal. Canadian statistics are similar. Other statistics show that teens are as much as four times as likely as adults to be involved in an accident with a fatality.

On top of this lies the fact many teens drive while intoxicated. MADD of Canada reports that 40 percent of teenage drivers who are killed in car accidents were involved in those crashes because they had been drinking. Statistics indicate that teens are less likely than older adults to drive after drinking, but those that do are at a higher risk than an adult to get in a crash. These two facts mean that teenage drivers must pay more for Canada insurance products for drivers.

Possible Reasons for the Risk

Why are teens at higher risk than older adults to be involved in a car crash? Experts think there are two reasons. First, many teens are risky drivers due to the fact that they do not always think through the consequences of their actions. They may drive too quickly in order to get to school on time or are easily distracted by other passengers in their cars. They are also more likely to text or talk on the phone while driving than an adult, despite bans on such actions.

A lack of experience is another factor. Teens simply have less time behind the wheel than most adult drivers, which makes the likelihood that they will be in a crash that much higher. Because of this, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among North American teens. In fact, in Canada around 11 percent of all driver deaths are teen drivers, and teen drivers are responsible for over 20 percent of all passenger deaths. Car insurance Canada insurers recognize this and assign higher rates as a result.

What Can Be Done?

One option, which has been successfully tried in Ontario, is to implement a graduated licensing program. This allows teens to get their driver’s licenses only after completing a series of steps. This gives teens more chances to practice driving in less distracting environments. Young teens cannot drive late at night and have limits on the number of passengers in their vehicles. This can reduce teen car crashes by as much as 60 percent.

Parents can also help by modeling good driving to their teens. As a parent, make sure that you are driving without distractions like cell phones or PDAs, and teach your child how to stay safe. Also, keep your teen accountable when using the family car, and make sure that you know who will be traveling with him.

Teens are more dangerous drivers than adults. Teens are four times more likely to be involved in fatal accidents than adult drivers, and because of this auto insurance rates are going to be higher. Rest assured, however, that with the proper teaching and enough practice, your teen does not have to be part of this statistic.

The Components of Car Insurance

Car Insurance is a necessity in today’s world if you drive and own a car. Driving on the roads even one day without car insurance is taking a risky chance and can put your finances in serious jeopardy. Car insurance is a premium you pay an insurer to cover you, the damages to your car and third parties in the event of an accident. Car insurance protects you if the other party does not have insurance or cannot pay for the damages in full.

Liability insurance policies cover the damages and injuries to others involved in an accident if you are to blame. This is generally the basic policy the law requires you to acquire to be legally allowed to drive. Liability coverage consists of bodily injury coverage per person, bodily injury coverage per accident and property damage coverage per accident. The drawback of liability insurance is that it does not cover you or the damages and repairs to your vehicle. It is recommended that you should get more than just liability coverage when looking for an ideal car insurance policy for yourself.

Collision policies for car insurance cover your repair bills in the event of a road accident. This is the most expensive policy for car insurance. Insurance companies do not want to pay for the repairs if the costs exceed more than the actual value of the car. In such cases insurers deem the car a total loss and will cover instead the value of the car since it turns out to be the cheaper option. Comprehensive car insurance policies cover damages besides accidents such as fire, theft, vandalism and natural disasters. It is essential to figure out the different aspects of the policy you’re signing such as the conditions of the policy, the supplemental payments, deductibles, coverage, declarations, rating, liability, premium and the exclusions.

In order to obtain a cost effective car insurance policy its best to check out a number of different quotes to figure out what is available in the market and where you’re getting the best deal. Do your homework and check out the reputation of the insurer by asking family and friends and who they choose to get insured by. It is also recommended to sustain a sound driving history. If the insurance company is able to see the evidence that you’re not likely to get into an accident, they will provide you with some sort of discount. Most insurers require a standard of no accidents or speeding tickets in the past five years to obtain such a discount. If you already have one car insured by a company or have other insurance policies such as home insurance then it is a good idea to inquire with that insurer to get a good multi policy deal. If you tend to use fewer miles per year you may be able to qualify for an insurer’s low mileage discount.

If you own an expensive car, it is much more difficult to get a good deal on a car insurance policy. Insurance companies know it will be expensive to cover an extravagant car if it is written off or damaged in an accident. Insurers also do regular research on statistics for the most frequently stolen vehicles and the cars that attract the most thefts. If your car is listed as such a risk, it will be hard to obtain a discount in this case. Buying a low profile and low maintenance car which will ensure you a deduction of premium. Enhancing your vehicle with safety and security features such as air bags, anti-theft details, automatic seatbelts, and anti-lock breaks, will also help you save money when determining the premium for your car insurance policy. Where you live also determines the amount you will be paying for car insurance. If you live in a small rural safe community your car is not likely to be stolen as opposed to living in a big metropolitan city.

An accident can happen any time and when you least expect it. So be prepared by maintaining insurance records and current up to date photographs of your vehicle, which you will need for making a claim. It is also beneficial to plan ahead when investing in a car and get your money’s worth.
